All-terrain helper — cyclocross engine for hills, stress points and breakaways
Emiel Verstrynge

Verstrynge brings the cyclocross crossover edge: tall, light, technically sharp, and already dangerous on the Ardennes-style roads that decide awkward Tour stages.

Verstrynge brings the cyclocross crossover edge: tall, light, technically sharp, and already dangerous on the Ardennes-style roads that decide awkward Tour stages. IDL's Tour preview framed him and Debruyne as Alpecin's riders for the hills and high mountains, and his 2026 spring backed that up with fourth at Liège and fifth at Amstel. He is still young enough for the white-jersey conversation, but his real job is to turn chaos into opportunity.

Palmarès

  • UEC European Under-23 cyclo-cross champion (2022)
  • UCI Cyclo-cross Under-23 Worlds silver medallist (2022, 2024)
  • 4th Liège–Bastogne–Liège and 5th Amstel Gold Race (2026)
Cut-out factHe was already a major cyclocross name before this road push, winning the European U23 title and twice taking silver at the U23 world championships.
