After years as a nearly-man at Sunweb and Movistar, the Cottbus-born sprinter has blossomed at Astana, and his stage 2 win at Paris–Nice in March 2026 confirmed him as a genuine WorldTour finisher. With Teunissen piloting him through the chaos, he carries the team's hopes whenever the Tour comes down to a gallop. He is the only German in the squad.
